Bookkeeper/Accounting Associate
We are looking for a Bookkeeper/Accounting Associate to join our growing team of professionals. This is a permanent full time position which is structured as 100% remote. Candidates from all across Canada are welcome to apply as we support fully remote positions regardless of province or territory. The Bookkeeper/Accounting Associate is responsible for a variety of accounting and other financial tasks to ensure the daily accounting functions run accurately and efficiently for all of Southbrook's clients.
- Technical understanding of double-entry accounting concepts and financial statements
- Familiar with accounting procedures
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, with specific demonstrated knowledge of Excel and Word
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems, prior experience with QB Desktop & QBO
- Initiative and ability to manage multiple projects, timely and accurately
- Ability to work well independently but still a strong team-player
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Accounting: record bank and credit card transactions, prepare reconciliations
- Month-end close: Manage monthly working paper files, analysis, financial reporting
- Manage payroll accounting: accurate payroll liabilities and accruals, and departments split into separate GL accounts as needed
- Maintain an organized system of digital client records
